- Amorphous Co-alloys (VITROVAC®)
feature a unique combination of mechanical strength and hardness with soft magnetic properties. Furthermore due to the low magnetostriction of the alloys, the magnetic properties are almost insensitive against elastic deformations like e. g. small bending radii.
Due to the required rapid solidification production method, amorphous tapes are only available in a thickness of about 20 µm. They are ideal for effective magnetic shielding against weak magnetic fields, e. g. cable shielding.
- 80 % NiFe-alloys (MUMETALL®, VACOPERM®)
feature similar magnetic properties than amorphous alloys. They are available as massiv material and are mainly used as highly effective shielding against low-frequency magnetic fields and in sensitive actors and sensors.
- 50 % NiFe-alloys (PERMENORM®)
feature a significantly higher saturation flux density compared to the previous alloys, however also lower permeabilities and higher coercivities. They are an economic alternativ if higher fields need to be shielded or higher field strengths are available to drive actors or sensors.
are the classical 50/60 Hz transformer material. Their main advantage is a high saturation flux density in combination with a fairly high electrical resistivity (due to the adding of Si). Especially the gigh-grade alloy TRAFOPERM® is suitable for lamination core packages in standard and special applications.
- 50 % CoFe-alloys (VACOFLUX® 50)
is the first choice if highest saturation values are required, e. g. for pole shoes or flux concentrators.
The magnetic properties in the table below are typical values after final magnetic annealing. Depending on the size and mechanical requirements, practical values may deviate.
